About NuClarityVision
The New Gold Standard For Vision Correction- Visual Clarity, Not Just 20/20 On a Chart.
NuClarityVision TM is a system designed to increase vision clarity and resolution to better-than-human normal, or to supernormal levels. This system uses imaging and data from multiple devices to create a laser treatment map to reduce the biological imperfections of the human cornea, while accurately correcting the spherical correction and astigmatism. In fact, this system which comprises several protocols and patents invented by Dr. Motwani, is the most accurate way to correct the astigmatism of a given eye. The goal is to increase visual clarity by reducing the biological imperfections of the cornea, which has the potential to make vision shaper, clearer, and with less imperfections like ghosting, halos, and glare. It also has the potential of attaining greater visual quantity i.e., 20/15 vision. It uses machine imaging data and technology to create a treatment map that reduces the biological imperfections of the cornea while also accurately using machine derived data to treat the sphere and astigmatism of the cornea instead of hand measured trial and error.
How Does NuClarityVision Work?
By using selected data from multiple devices that image the cornea and the whole eye, NuClarityVision creates a specialized treatment map for correcting an individual eye, whether by a flap (LASIK) or by surface ablation (PRK or trans-epithelial PRK). The system is based on topography guided ablation that utilizes the machine topography measured astigmatism and axis and uses the WaveLight Contoura system to make a more uniform, “perfect cornea,” and then modifies the treatment map for those patients that have corneal surface epithelial changes due to the corneal imperfections or for those patients that have astigmatism not just from the cornea, but also sources in the back of the eye such as the natural lens.
How Is NuClarityVision Different From Regular LASIK or PRK?
Regular LASIK or PRK are meant to be equivalent procedures to wearing glasses or soft contact lenses. Regular LASIK/PRK does not improve the shape of the cornea or improve the Ocular Focusing System, it simply corrects on the cornea the same hand measured trial and error prescription the same way as in glasses or contacts. NuClarityVision actually improves the Ocular Focusing System to make it more “perfect,” similar to putting a better, more expensive lens on a camera. We have no way of changing the nerve layer in the back of the eye (the retina) that collects light like the digital sensor on a camera, or the processing system that creates the visual image (the human brain), but with NuClarityVision it is possible to improve the Ocular Focusing System to create a clearer, more focused image by minimizing scatter of light.
Does NuClarityVision Have Proven Science Behind It?
NuClarityVision is based on many years of research by Dr. Motwani to analyze and understand how the human Ocular Focusing System works and how to accurately correct and improve its function. This has resulted in multiple original research peer-reviewed publications that explain the science and report the data and outcomes. The system has already been granted two United States patents, 3 more U.S. patents are pending, and 3 more are to be filed. Every step of this system has been carefully researched and has large amounts of actual data from procedures performed behind it. Publications have demonstrated accurate astigmatism correction, reduction of corneal imperfections/irregularities, consistency of reduction of biologic corneal imperfections, treatment of extreme levels of nearsightedness/astigmatism/hyperopia, treatment of severe corneal irregularities caused by disease/trauma/infection/past surgery, and the tested and documented subjective improvement of vision.

Is NuClarityVision a System or a Procedure?
It’s both! Patents have been filed that combine the technologies and protocols into one system that any surgeon can use obtain an accurate treatment map that not only corrects an individual eye but also removes the biological imperfections that scatter light to improve clarity. At this time, Dr. Motwani uses the data from multiple imagining devices and integrates the data to create the treatment map, something that will be automated in the future so any surgeon can create an optimal treatment map for an individual eye.
Does This Take Longer to Perform or Heal Than Regular LASIK?
A NuClarityVision procedure does not take any longer to perform, but takes longer to do the initial pre-operative workup and the the surgical planning.. Our pre-operative exam utilizes more machines, obtains more data, and integrates this data into a more complex, sophisticated treatment map that is programmed into the laser. For the patient, it’s the same Femto LASIK or PRK procedure performed on the WaveLight system- quick, painless, safe, and smooth for the patient. The difference is the far more complex way the system is programmed to remove the biological imperfections of the cornea and accurately treat the sphere and astigmatism using machine-based data rather than hand measured trial and error.
I’ve Read Dr. Motwani’s Papers and He Has Several Protocols- LYRA, San Diego, CREATE. Are These Separate or Part of NuClarityVision?
Dr. Motwani’s research over many years led to a series of Protocols designed to work on different eyes in need of different types of correction. Some were for patients just looking to correct their eyes and get rid of glasses/contacts. Some were for treating corneas damaged by disease, past surgery, infection, or trauma. NuClarityVision combines all of these into a system designed to be able to treat any eye and improve the function of the Ocular Focusing System.
