We offer a specialized PRK procedure called Transepithelial PRK. This technique utilizes corneal epithelial thickness mapping to assess the level of epithelial compensation for corneal irregularities. By precisely removing the necessary epithelial tissue with an excimer laser, we can then apply Contoura topographic guided ablation to create a highly uniform corneal surface.
This approach is beneficial for patients undergoing corneal reconstructive procedures due to past surgeries, diseases, or trauma, where significant epithelial compensation can mask the true extent of corneal irregularity. Dr. Motwani has integrated this technique with his LYRA Protocol to achieve exceptional visual outcomes. In fact, Dr. Motwani was the first patient to undergo this procedure as part of his research and development of the CREATE Protocol (Corneal Repair Epithelium and Topography Enhanced), which is patent-pending.
