Post-LASIK ectasia, a rare but serious complication, is a progressive thinning and bulging of the cornea that can lead to distorted vision, similar to keratoconus, and is believed to be caused by weakening of the cornea during LASIK surgery. Some people also categorize Keratoconus as a version of cornea ectasia. Dr. Motwani goes more in depth on the distinctions and characteristics of both.
