What Does Your Optometrist Mean by “Stable Eyes”? – Dr. Motwani Explains

We’ve had a bunch of patients come in and mention that their optometrists would say that they need to wait to see if their eyes are “stable enough” for LASIK/LASER surgery.

For some people, this means that their eyes are changing from disease or infection but otherwise, most people from 18 years of age on, are usually stable enough for most laser surgeries.

in many other cases, optometrists say that waiting for “stable eyes” for laser surgery may also be a defensive way to keep you as their patient longer while you forgo any corrective eye treatment, waiting for the stability to appear when it is already there.
